AFCON 2017: Black Stars to begin camping on Dec. 27

The senior national team of Ghana, the Black Stars are set to begin a non-residential camping ahead of the 2017 African Cup of Nations (AFCON).

The team qualified to the continent’s flagship tournament after a 2-0 win over Mauritius in the qualifiers away from Ghana.

The Black Stars are hoping to win the AFCON tournament ffor the first time in 35 years.

Footy-Ghana can disclose that the team will start a non residential camping on December 27 to straighten the rough edges of the team before embarking on the trip to Gabon.

The players will be allowed by the technical team to spend the Christmas with their family and attend the training from their respective homes until 2nd January 2017.

They will gather afterwards and fly out to a yet to be named camping base before joining other fifteen countries in Gabon to fight for the 2017 AFCON trophy.

Ghana came second to Ivory Coast in the last edition (2015) after a dramatic 9-8 penalty shoot outs in Equatorial Guinea. They have been drawn in a difficult group that includes record 7-time champions Egypt, Mali and Uganda.
