U-20 AfconQ: Ghana ambassador urges Satellites to beat Algeria

Ghana’s ambassador to Algeria, Nana Kwasi Arhin has charged the Black Satellites to overcome their Algerian opponents in Friday’s 2019 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations qualifier.

In search of a good start in the two-legged tie, the team arrived in Algiers on Wednesday to face the young Desert Warriors at Stade 5 Juillet 1962.

The Black Satellites were welcomed by the ambassador who urged the side to triumph.

“I have hosted Aduana Stars and the second contingent is the Under-20 in the six months I have been here and I believe since we are here, we are representing Ghana and nobody else. We should always know that we have a proud country,” the top official said.

“I’m talking to the players now. We don’t have any other option apart from success. The other option is failure and nobody wants failure so I urge you guys to win.”

Nana Kwasi Arhin told the players he has already spoken highly of them to his colleague ambassadors and he expects no disappointments on Friday.

“I wouldn’t want to be the source of mockery among my colleagues who I have told i am going to win. Today, I was at a reception and they were all asking me, has your team arrived? I said yes. Are you going to win? I said yes.”

Coach Jimmy Cobblah’s 18-man squad has 6 members of the U-17 side that reached the quarter finals of the 2017 Fifa U-17 World Cup.

Friday’s game kicks off at 1700 GMT.
