Kotoko rake in ¢145,625 from Cara clash

Asante Kotoko realized ¢145,625 as take-home from ticket sales in Sunday’s Caf Confederation Cup clash with Congolese side Cara Brazzaville.

According to official figures, close to 35,000 tickets were printed for the preliminary round first leg encounter held at the Baba Yara Sports Stadium.

The well-attended game fetched as much as GH¢253,352 in gross earnings but Kotoko could only net GH¢145,625.19 (about 57% of the total amount).

This as a result of several statutory deductions, GH¢107,726.81, for the use of the government facility – 17.5% VAT followed by cost of ticket printing, allocations to checkers and sellers as well as refreshments for special guests were factored in arriving at the take home amount for the Porcupine Warriors.

Also, 10% each was set aside for the Ghana Football Association and the National Sports Authority, 5% each to the Premier League Board (PLB) and the Ghana League Clubs Association (Ghalca).

Five penalties were produced but only one was converted in the drama-filled game with Kotoko snatching a late 1-0 victory courtesy substitute Yakubu Mohammed.

Cara Brazzaville will host Asante Kotoko in the reverse leg on February 21.
