Caf CL: Aduana Stars squad for Al-Tahaddy trip revealed

Ghanaian champions Aduana Stars head to Egypt for their 2018 Caf Champions League preliminary round opener against Libyan side Al-Tahddy SC this weekend.

The match has been moved to Cairo’s Petro Sport Stadium from the initially announced Alexandria venue. The Libyan champions are unable to host games in their home country due to political unrest.

Aduana held their final training session at their Dormaa base Monday afternoon. They leave for Accra where they will hold one more session before flying out to the Egyptian capital Thursday night.

Two training sessions have been planned for the team in Cairo ahead of the Tahaddy clash on Saturday.

Footy-Ghana.com gathers the two-time league winners have been forced to drop key players like Hafiz Adams and second choice goalkeeper Gordon Yeboah due to issues with their travel documents.

Also experienced striker Yahaya Mohammed, who once had a stint in Libya, is out of the squad due to injury.

Head coach Yusif Abubakar says Aduana’s target is to make the group stage of the Champions League.

“Everybody in Ghana is expecting a team to reach the Money Zone in every Africa competition so that is our ultimate target. We will urge all Ghanaians to support us in our Champions League journey,” he said.
