Libya’s Al-Ittihad sign Kwame Kizito

Former Hearts of Oak striker Kwame Kizito has signed a free agent deal with Libya’s Caf Confederation Cup campaigners Al-Ittihad Tripoli.

The 21-year-old refused to extend his stay with the Phobians after running down his three-year contract at the end of the 2016/17 season.

Kizito had claimed receiving an offer from Sweden’s BK Hacken but the deal could not materialize reportedly due to issues with a Fifa compensation agreement which was not settled with the Ghanaian giants.

Last week, the Glo-Lamp Academy graduate flew out to Tunisia to finalize talks with Ittihad who have pitched camp in Tunis where they will host their Caf Confederation Cup home games.

Kwame Kizito successfully completed a mandatory medical on Wednesday and has signed to a three-year contract.

Despite arriving after the Caf inter-club competitions player registration deadline, it is understood that Al Ittihad are prepared to pay a mandatory fine in order to register the Ghana international by the January 15 grace period date.

Kwame Kizito scored nine goals for Hearts of Oak last season.
