“No Mo Salah rift,” says Mane

Sadio Mane has denied the existence of a rift between him and Liverpool mate Mohamed Salah.

The Senegal international was arguably Liverpool’s best player in 2016/17 but the arrival of Salah during the summer has seen his form drop off slightly.

Reports of a rift between the two wingers emerged earlier this season but Mane has said such rumours are far from the truth.

“There is no rivalry between us, we are friends and brothers.

“We’re on the same team and we’re happy to be on the same team.

“We are happy to play together. We always enjoy to play alongside [each other]. We are looking forward,” Mane said at a press conference in Accra Thursday.

“Since arriving at Liverpool, Sadio [Mane] has been my friend and he supports me on the field,” the newly crowned African Player of the Year, Salah, who sat by also added.

Sadio Mane was first runner-up at the 2017 Caf Aiteo Awards held Thursday night.

Both players flew back to England right after the awards gala. Mane is expected to play a part in Liverpool’s Merseyside derby with Everton in the FA Cup on Friday night.
