U-20 Women’s WCQ: Kenya lose seven players for Ghana clash due to school exams

Kenya will be heading to Ghana for the first leg of the penultimate round of qualifiers to the 2018 Fifa U-20 Word Cup without seven key players due to school exams.

The players have been ruled out of both legs due to taking their final Secondary School Leaving Certificate Examination, KCSE, simultaneously set for the same duration as the tie.

“Seven players who played a part in the second-round tie against Ethiopia in September will not make the Ghana trip as they are set to sit their end year KCSE exams.

“The seven are Sheryl Angachi, Cynthia Shilwatso, Maureen Khakasa, Cynthia Akinyi, Sharon Adhiambo, Mercy Airo and Vivian Nasaka,” the Kenyan Football Federation announced.

This will be a big blow to Kenya’s hope of going one better than the result they posted in the 2011 qualifier where they were eliminated in the third round by Tunisia.

Kenya’s Junior Starlets eliminated Ethiopia in the first round with a 4-3 aggregate win, while Ghana overwhelmed Algeria 10-0 on aggregate to proceed.

The Black Princesses will host the Kenyans at the Cape Coast Stadium on Sunday, November 5.
