U17 AFCON: Paa Kwesi Fabin positive of a last four place

Head coach of the National Under-17 team, Paa Kwesi Fabin has revealed he is optimistic his team will make it to the last four of the U-17 AFCON and go ahead to clinch the trophy.

Fabin says he is anticipating a very tough and competitive tournament at the 2017 Under-17 Africa Cup of Nations to be held in Madagascar.

The Black Starlets have been drawn in Group A alongside Guinea, Cameroon and host nation Madagascar.

The Starlets failed to qualify for the 2015 edition of the Under 17 Afcon tournament following a one year ban over age cheating.
The Starlets this time around qualified by defeating neighbours Cote d’Ivoire on a 3-1 goal aggregate.

Coach Paa Kwesi Fabin believes there are no minnows in football these days.

“We can’t say team A or B is favorable or not. Once we have qualified, we must be ready for any challenge that comes our way,” Fabin told Ultimate FM.

“Our target is to get into the last four stage or be in the four slot zone that will qualify us to the world cup. Having achieve that we will see if we can fight for the trophy as well.”

Starlets have won the Afcon tournament on two occasions in the history of the competition.

After a nine-year absence, the Black Starlets are seeking to make a return to the world stage after last appearing in Korea 2007.
