I have applied for the AFC Leopards job – Bashir Hayford

Coach of Ashanti Gold SC, Bashir Hayford has confirmed he is seeking for a job outside the country.

He is among a tall list of coaches who have applied to take over the position made vacant by the exit of head coach Ivan Minaert from Kenyan side AFC Leopards.

Speaking to Viasat 1 sports, Bashir Hayford revealed that he applied for the job after a friend hinted him about the job vacancy at the East African side.

“I have a friend who called me from there [Kenya] and told me they are looking for a coach. He asked whether I was interested and I said well I have a contract with Ashanti Gold but he can…”

“It’s not only Kenya, some are in Tanzania, Morocco, he has sent my CV all around so it’s all about applying for opportunities outside the country,” the Ghanaian coach added.

The 2015 Ghana Premier League winning coach also revealed immediate past Asante Kotoko coach, David Duncan is also in line for the Leopards job.

“My name is there and I know Duncan also has his name there”.

Ashgold failed to live up to expectations after winning the 2014/2015 league title as they could only managed 11th position on the 2015/2016 league log.
