Friendly: Uganda lose 1-0 to Togo

Uganda Cranes lost to Togo 1-0 in the international friendly match played at the Kegue Stadium in Lome on Tuesday evening.

Atakora Lalawele scored the decisive goal of the game in the 30th minute.

The match was a timely test for the Uganda Cranes as they head to that crucial 2018 FIFA World Cup Qualifier against Ghana in Tamale on Friday.

Uganda had enjoyed a better start to the game with dominance on the flanks by Portugal-based winger William Luwagga Kizito and Gor Mahia left back Godfrey Walusimbi.

Luwagga and team captain Geofrey Massa had two different blocked shots at goal while Farouk Miya volleyed wide in one of Uganda’s best chances.

At the onset of the second half Micho introduced new faces in a bid to change the tide of the game.

Tonny Mawejje, Moses Oloya, Joseph Ochaya, Baba Kizito and striker Hamis Kiiza were introduced for Farouk Miya, Nicholas Wadada, Godfrey Walusimbi, Hassan Wasswa Mawanda and Geofrey Massa respectively.

Later in the 64th minute, Finland-based forward Yunus Sentamu replaced William Luwagga Kizito as Uganda sought for the equaliser.

Claude Le Roy at the helm of Togo also made four changes – Serge Akakpo, Ouro-sama, Agbeniadan and Segbefia on, Boukari, Dossevi, Ouro-Akoriko and Eninful ou.

Emmanuel Adebayor was the only player booked in the game getting cautioned by referee  Gustave Eugene Tohouegnon on the 90th minute mark.
