Medeama duo Akowuah, Abass on TP Mazembe radar

Nana Oduro Sarfo, the West African representative for DR Congo giants TP Mazembe, has disclosed that the club is keen on signing some players from Medeama SC.

According to him, the Central African side were impressed with the performance of midfielder Malik Akowuah and attacker Abass Mohammed and are looking forward to add them to the number of Ghanaians.

TP Mazembe, who boasts of five Ghanaians in their fold – Solomon Asante, Nii Adjei, Richard Kissi Boateng, Gladson Awako and Yaw Frimpong, are considering adding the two.

The Ghanaian side over the weekend lost 3-1 to TP Mazembe in their opening game in the Group stages of the CAF Confederation Cup and will be playing the return leg at the Essipong stadium.

Nana Oduro Sarfo says his club will have the opportunity to assess the players before signing them.

“It’s likely Solomon Asante will leave for Europe or elsewhere and then Malik Akowuah and Abass Mohammed impressed so well that we want to look at them again in the return leg at the Essipong Stadium”.

He’s optimistic of a Ghanaian player moving to the current holders of the CAF Champions League title.

“If they are able to prove that they are what we saw in Lubumbashi, then automatically we will have to chance on them. I know that by all means a player will move from Ghana”.

Medeama SC are back in Ghana after their clash against TP Mazembe. They will host Algerian Club MO Bejaia in their next Group game at the Essipong Stadium in Sekondi.
