CAF CC: Mazembe weary of Medeama threat – Nii Adjei

Ghana midfielder Daniel Nii Adjei has cautioned his side TP Mazembe ahead of their CAF Confederation Cup group opener against Medeama SC.

Two-time Ghana FA Cup Champions, Medeama SC continue their continental campaign as they play guests to TP Mazembe in the first game of the CAF Confederation Cup group stage. They were drawn in a group which also has M.O Bejaia and Young Africans.

The game to be hosted in Lubumbashi by the Ravens will see the former Asante Kotoko midfielder play against the Yellow and Mauves. According to the Ghanaian, the Tarkwa-based side should not be underrated as they present a big challenge to Mazembe’s path to annexing the trophy.

“Medeama just like the other clubs in the group are a threat to our title ambitions,”

“My teammates know how Ghanaian clubs play because I and the four Ghanaian players at the club have been here for a long time and they’ve learned something from us. So Mazembe are always ready for the game and we’ll contain the heat,” Adjei told Goal.

Adjei who is weary of the threats of Medeama is optimistic of their chances in claiming the trophy and relishes they concentrate on qualifying from the group before tackling subsequent challenges.

“We know it is possible for us to win the title and make the fans happy because it wouldn’t be the first time but we have to qualify from the group first before any other thing can be added to it,” he added.

Medeama face TP Mazembe Sunday afternoon.
