CAF CC: Medeama coach urges team to capitalize on away goal against Sundowns

Stand-in Medeama SC Coach, Augustine Adotey is of the belief that the away goal recorded by his side in their 3-1 first leg loss to Sundowns will be key to their qualification.

The two-time Ghana FA Cup champions lost painfully 3-1 in the initial tie in South Africa, conceding three times in the final nine minutes after opening account in the first minute in Pretoria.

Medeama are seeking to overturn the 3-1 first leg result in their favour as the second leg comes on this Wednesday in Ghana.

In the absence of departed Tom Strand, the club’s Technical Director steps in to steer the side against the ABSA Premiership Champions and believes the away goal scored in South Africa can help them qualify if they score two unanswered goals or more.

“It is good we had an away goal there. We just have to capitalize on it and try to score two, three goals.

“We have to get three goals because that will be more secured but I am happy we have an away goal going into the second leg and I’m confident we will deliver,” Coach Adotey told Atinka FM in Accra.

Medeama SC who have earlier eliminated Ahly Shendi and Al Ittihad are hopeful of getting into the ‘Money Zone’ this time around after missing out in the previous attempt.

The match kicks off at 3:00pm local time at the Essipong Sports Stadium in Sekondi.
