CAF CC: Sundowns arrive in Ghana for Medeama clash

Mamelodi Sundowns have arrived in the country to honour their CAF Confederations Cup return leg against Ghana’s Medeama SC.

The ‘Brazillians’ as they are known, touched down in Accra on Sunday evening and were moved to Takoradi by flight from the Kotoka International Airport. The club is set to move to Sekondi where the game will be played in midweek.

The PSL Champions coached by former Bafana Bafana boss Pitso Mosimane triumphed 3-1 over Medeama in the initial tie played at the Lucas Moripe Stadium two weeks ago. They scored three in the final 10 minutes after the Ghanaians had taken the lead in the first minute through Eric Kwakwa.

The Mauve and Yellows have a daunting task ahead of them to overturn the result and qualify to the next stage of the competition, the group stage. Two unanswered goals will see the Tarkwa-based outfit through to the ‘Money Zone’ of the CAF Confederations Cup.

Medeama SC, Ghana’s sole representative in this year’s continental competition have already dispatched Al Ittihad Tripoli of Libya and Sudanese side Al Ahly Shendi and hope to eliminate Sundowns.

The game will be played on Wednesday May 18, 2016 at the Essipon Sports Stadium in Sekondi.
