2023 Caf WCL: Morocco withdraw hosting bid, back Cote d’Ivoire

The president of the Royal Moroccan Football Federation (FRMF), Mr. Faouzi Lekjaa announced the withdrawal of the candidacy of the Kingdom of Morocco for the hosting rights of the 2023 Caf Women’s Champions League.
This was declared during Thursday’s Caf Executive Committee meeting.

Morocco’s withdrawal is thought to be a move to support Côte d’Ivoire’s bidding rights following the Ivorian Federation of Football’s (FIF) decision to bid for the hosting rights of the this year’s edition of Caf Women’s Champions League.

Côte d’Ivoire will host the men’s edition of the Africa Cup of Nation’s next year which starts from January 13 to February 11, 2024.

Morocco is in the race to host the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations and have as well put in a joint bid to co host the 2030 Fifa World Cup.
