World Champion Fraser-Pryce ruled out of Kip Keino Classic because of injury

Sprint star Shelly-Ann Fraser-Pryce has pulled out of Saturday’s Kip Keino Classic in Nairobi, Kenya, because of injury.

The five time world Champion had been due to compete in this weekend’s athletics meet in Kenya that would have signalled the start of her international season.

Fraser-Pryce, who had been in Kenya since Wednesday, has reportedly suffered a knee injury during training on Thursday, according to meet director Barnabas Korir.

Fraser-Pryce confirmed via social media Friday that she suffered discomfort in her warmup and has left the country to seek treatment.

This is the second time that Fraser-Pryce has been forced to postpone her season as she pulled out of last month’s Golden Grand Prix in Botswana because of a family emergency.
