Three months after the end of the 2022 Championship of African Nations (CHAN) in Algeria where the Barea won the bronze medal, the Malagasy Federation have announced the distribution for the prize money earned during the competition.
Madagascar pocketed a tidy sum of 500,000 dollars for their exploits in Algeria.
There were reported murmurs of dissatisfaction around the distribution of the $500,000 bonus offered by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to the national team.
The Malagasy FA have however watered down those rumors with a release showing the distribution of the prize money.
The heroes of Madagascar’s amazing CHAN debut campaign will pocket $250,000 which translates to 50% of the prize money earned as a result of their efforts.
The Malagasy Football Federation will receive 30% of the team’s earnings and 10% will be handed to the clubs from which the players who featured at the tournament came from.
The final 10% of the prize money will be disbursed as funds for the Premier League and the first Division (second tier) with both leagues receiving 5% each.
