Thomas Abbey terminates contract with Ismaily

Ghana’s Thomas Abbey has had his contract with Egyptian side Ismaily SC terminated.

The left-sided attacker joined the side in a free agent deal on January 25 but asked for the abrogation of his deal after six months citing “personal reasons”, close sources indicate.

Disrupted by injury which kept him out for two months of his initial half-season spell, Abbey managed a quite underwhelming stats of a total of 26 minutes in four league appearances (breakdown below) for the Yellows.

Abbey, 24, enjoyed a successful 2016/17 season at former club Accra Hearts of Oak before deciding to seek greener pastures after running down his contract. During that campaign, he scored 13 goals in 28 league appearances and also led the Phobians to a final berth in the MTN FA Cup competition.
