#CafCC: Skipper Akuoko optimistic Aduana will beat Vita Club

Aduana Stars captain Emmanuel Akuoko says they still aim at making it to the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup group stage despite their slow start.

The Dormaa-based side lie bottom in Group A after losing 1-0 away to Asec Mimomas and drawing 3-3 with Raja Casablanca at home. Ahead of their vital fixture against Vita Club next week at the Nana Agyemang Badu Park, Akuoko is positive on claiming victory against the Congolese side.

“Vita Club are one of the powerhouses in African football but we’ll not allow them to pick a draw or win against us. I’m very optimistic that we’ll defeat them next week and keep our aims alive.

“Aduana is last on the log but a win against Vita Club will push us to third position with four points. After this game, we will do our best in the last three fixtures to make it out of the group and at least reach the quarterfinals,” he told Goal.com

The skipper also lamented their inactivity due to the corrupt findings by Anas Aremeyaw Anas, thereby causing a halt in Ghana football for over a month.

“We are aware that our game against Vita Club will be difficult because we’ve been inactive due to the suspension of the league as a result of the investigations by Anas.

“We had three league outstanding matches which we were supposed to play in June and that would’ve helped in improving our match fitness but we have a good squad and will not let the indefinite suspension of the matches affect us in anyway,” he said.”

With the sack of head coach Yusif Abubakar just days to the clash, doubts might be raised on the technical strength of the Ogya Boys heading into such a crucial encounter. But the 2017/18 Ghana Premier League champions have the quality to surpass the As Vita hurdle.
