Egypt FA denies Herve Renard rumours

Egypt Football Association chairman Hany Abou-Rida has responded to media reports that they will appoint Morocco manager Hervé Renard following the departure of Hector Cuper.

The Pharaohs were knocked out of the 2018 Fifa World Cup after losing all three matches to Uruguay, Russia, and Saudi Arabia, leaving them bottom in Group A.

Following the shameful exit, the country football governing firm has decided to not renew Hector Cuper’s contract, and Morocco manager Hervé Renard has emerged as a target for the North Africans.

“We have started looking for a new manager and we have received CVs from several managers,” Abou-Rida said.

“Hazem Emam(EFA member) is in charge of that. When we get to a shortlist, the candidates will be announced.

“Renard has a contract with the Moroccan FA, therefore we can’t talk about him. If they decide not to extend his contract, we will negotiate with him,” he added.

An experienced coach Renard is; the French gaffer claimed the Afcon title in 2012 and 2015 for Zambia and Ivory Coast respectively, and led Morocco to their first World Cup since 1998.
