Caf CC: Aduana rally thrice for 3-3 draw against Raja

Aduana Stars thrice recovered from a losing position to secure a 3-3 draw at home to Raja Club Athletic in their second game in Group A of the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup on Wednesday.

Following the draw at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park in Dormaa, the Ghanaian champions are now bottom of the group with a point from two matches thus far.

Raja looked threatening in the early stages and Mahmoud Benhalib opened the scoring for the Moroccans in the 11th minute.

In their response, the hosts made amends and scored courtesy of Congolese winger Oba Ikama Ulitch in the 21st minute.

In the run-up to the end of the opening half, the visitors upped their search for a second goal and were able to break the hosts’ defence.

Lema Mabidi doubled Raja’s lead with a fine finish in the 39th minute to restore their lead heading to the tunnel

Just after their return for the second half, Stars fought harder in their probe to come back into the game and managed to find the back of the net courtesy of Caleb Amankwah in the 49th minute.

Benhalib completed his brace in the 61st minute after an assist from Zakaria Hadraf as Raja regained their lead for the second time.

As the Moroccans took their feet off the pedal, Nathaniel Asamoah netted an equalizer for Aduana Stars in the final of the 5 minutes time added on by Namibian referee Jackson Pavaza to make it 3-3.

The result sees Raja Club Athletic now place third in Group A with two points from as many games.

DR Congo’s AS Vita Club jump top of the log with four points after beating ASEC Mimosas 3-1 in Kinshasha.
