No Ghanaian as Fifa lists two African refs for U-20 Women’s WCup
Ghanaian referees failed to make the cut as Fifa announced the final list of appointed match officials for this year’s Under-20 Women’s World Cup in France.
Africa will be represented by six match officials – two centre referees and four assistants – at the August 5-24 tournament.
The referees are Ethiopia’s Lidya Tafesse Abebe and Malawian Gladys Lengwe while compatriot Bernadettar Kwimbira, Mary Njoroge (Kenya), Lidwine Rakotozafinoro (Madagascar) and Victoire Queency are the shortlisted assistant referees.
In a statement released on Wednesday, Fifa Referees Committee confirmed a total of 15 referees and 30 assistants for the tournament.
