Aduana smash Fosa Juniors in Confed Cup first leg

Ghanaian champions Aduana Stars came from behind to smash Fosa Juniors of Madagascar 6-1 in their 2018 Caf Confederation Cup playoffs first leg clash on Sunday.

Elvis Opoku and Sam Adams struck twice, while Bright Agyei and Zakaria Mumuni also got among the goals after surviving an early scare at the Nana Agyeman Badu I Park in Dormaa.

The Malagasy side shot their noses in front as early as the third minute through Andre Jose.

But midfielder Elvis Opoku responded with a pile driver for the equalizer in the 8th minute.

Then came the beginning of a string of penalties for the host – two before halftime break and the third later in the second half as Fosa Juniors continued to commit unpardonable mistakes at the back.

The penalty won by Anane was expertly put away by Sam Adams in the 34th minute.

Five minutes later, Adams was on hand again after Bright Agyei was brought down for a spot kick. He converted the spot kick to cushion Aduana to a 3-1 lead at halftime.

In the 63rd minute, in-from winger Zakaria got the chance to register his name on the score sheet when he was brought down by the Fosa goalkeeper. He elected himself and converted from the spot.

Opoku, after receiving a pass from Nathaniel Asamoah, got back on the score sheet to extend Aduana’s lead to 5-1 in the 84th minute before Bright Agyei completed the rout with his goal four minutes from time.

Aduana Stars take a healthy 6-1 lead into the reverse fixture set for the Stade Alexandre Rabemananjara in Mahajanga on Wednesday April 18.

The winner of the Aduana Stars vs Fosa Juniors clash advances to the group stage of the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup.
