Caf CL: ES Sétif disappointed at Baba Yara Stadium managers

Algerian giants ES Sétif have expressed disappointment at the mangers of the Baba Yara Sports Stadium for denying them use of the facility on Sunday.

Ahead of their Caf Champions League clash against Aduana Stars in Dormaa, Sétif flew into Ghana in the wee hours of Sunday before travelling by road to Kumasi where they have pitched camp.

They however faced some challenges later in the afternoon when they attempted to hold their first training session.

Sétif apparently did not make prior arrangements to hire the Baba Yara Stadium and got turned down with their late attempt.

“I am very surprised at those responsible for the Kumasi Stadium because they didn’t allow us train there. I thought we are friends and Africans who show solidarity.

Should any club come to Algeria and want to use ES Sétif’s facilities, we will gladly make it available and I wanted to pay for it but they didn’t allow,” Djihad Boulahdjilet, the General Manager of the Algerian club told Kumasi-based Oyerepa FM 100.7.

ES Sétif later settled for the training facility at the Opoku Ware Senior High School. They are expected to train once more in Kumasi on Monday before embarking on a road trip to Dormaa, the venue for their first leg clash with Aduana.

The winner of this tie on aggregate advances into the group stage of the 2018 Caf Champions League.
