Champions League winner Drogba’s 17-year-old son joins Guingamp

Isaac Drogba, the 17-year-old son of Champions League winner and former Ivorian national team captain, Didier Drogba, has joined French Ligue 1 side Guingamp.

The French top tier club, currently 10th on the league table have confirmed the signing, after Isaac completed a move from the Academy side of Chelsea, whose first team his father played for while in the United Kingdom as a professional footballer.

 

The Guingamp move is a big one for Isaac, who is set to follow in the footsteps of his father, who once played for the French side some 16 years ago, scoring 24 goals over 50 games.

“Couldn’t be more proud of you Isaac Drogba,” Didier Drogba wrote on Instagram.

Frank Lampard and John Terry, former teammates of the Ivorian legend congratulated Isaac in separate replies to Didier Drogba’s Instagram post.

“Congratulations! I remember Isaac as the small polite boy! Now a man,” said Lampard.

“Can’t believe how big he is mate, congratulations,” John Terry added.
