Wafu Women’s Cup: Ajibade treble sends Nigeria into semis

A Rasheedat Ajibade first half hat-trick helped Nigeria secure an early qualification to the semifinals of the inaugural Wafu B Women’s Cup of Nations.

The FC Robo Queens striker’s goals saw the Super Falcons spank Senegal 3-0 at Parc des Sports de Treichville on Saturday.

Ajibade registered the opener on 19 minutes when shed connected to a corner kick by Glory Ogbonna.

The teenager doubled her tally on the half-hour mark with an easy after rounding up Senegal goalkeeper Ouleye Dieye.

Five minutes later, Ogbonna grabbed her second assist for Ajibade to complete her treble after Senegal failed to clear a corner.

Rasheedat Ajibade was adjudged woman-of-the-match and received her plague from Ghana FA Executive Committee member Leanier Addy.

Saturday’s victory over Senegal sees Nigeria’s passage into the last four but they will have to complete the group stage formalities with a game against Togo on Monday. Nigeria won 1-0 in their opening match in Group B against Mali who also spanked Togo 8-0 on Saturday.
