Ghana qualifies for fifth consecutive U-20 Women’s World Cup

Ghana secured a fifth straight qualification to the Fifa Under-20 Women’s World Cup after beating Cameroon 3-0 at home on Saturday.

The Black Princesses had held the Indomitable Lionesses to a 1-1 draw in the first leg back in Yaounde a fortnight ago.

Two of the goals came in the first half with Ernestina Abambila setting the tone with a 15th minute opener at the Cape Coast Sports Stadium.

Captain and top scorer in the African qualifiers, Princella Adubea extended her streak to 10 goals when she netted to make it 2-0 six minutes from the break.

Returnee striker Sandra Owusu Ansah, in about 180 seconds after coming off the bench for Helena Obeng, put the icing on the cake with a 78th minute strike, handing Ghana a 4-1 aggregate victory over the Cameroonians.

Ghana and Nigeria who thrashed South Africa 8-0 over two legs will be representing Africa at the Under-20 World Cup which is set to be staged in France.

France 2018 comes off from August 5 to 24.
