SEALED: Zamalek sign Nana Poku

Ghana striker Nana Poku has completed his switch from Misr El-Makkasa to Zamalek in the Egyptian Premier League.

The deal sees the 25-year-old reunite with his former manager Ehab Galal as the latter wanted to strengthen his attacking force.

Zamalek’s strikers have only managed to score eight goals this season and the club was desperate for a new striker, which made them sign Poku, who is considered surplus to requirements at El-Makkasa.

Poku was struggling to nail down a place at El-Makkasa as he was stuck behind top scorer John Antwi, scoring just one goal in six appearances across all competitions this season.

He will become the club’s fifth foreign player alongside Benjamin Acheampong, Kabongo Kasongo, Moruf Yusuf and Hamdi Nagguez, which means one of these four will be sold this January.

Nana Poku first arrived in Egypt in 2014 playing for Ittihad El-Shorta. He was his team’s top scorer with 11 goals. Afterwards, he moved to Misr El-Maqassa in 2015 on a three-year contract. He enjoyed a 5-month loan spell with the UAE’s Al Shabab last year.
