U-20 WWCQ: Nigeria defeat South Africa in final round first leg

Nigeria are just 90 minutes away from a record ninth straight appearance at the Fifa U-20 Women’s World Cup after defeating South Africa on Saturday.

The Super Falconets travelled to record a resounding 2-0 victory away to the Basetsana in the first leg of the last round of the African qualifiers to France 2018.

First half goals from Rasheedat Ajibade and Anam Imo at the Old Peter Mokaba Stadium in Polokwane

After several minutes of dominating proceedings, the Falconets went ahead through Ajibade’s brilliant 30-minute strike from the right byline.

Nigeria continued their domineering displays and it paid off again five minutes later when Imo stroke the ball in from six yards out after the South African goalkeeper had parried it into her path.
