Ghana’s Atsu, Partey nominated for 2017 African Player of the Year award
Ghana duo Christian Atsu and Thomas Partey have been named among nominees for the 2017 Caf African Player of the Year Award.
The two are the only Black Stars players in the list of 30 African nationals posted on the website of the Confederation of African Football (Caf) Wednesday.
Atsu and Partey have been instrumental for both club and country during the year under review. They will vie for the award with other top African stars like Mohamed Salah, Naby Keita, Eric Bailly, Christian Bassogog and current holder Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang.
Meanwhile, Ghana did not get any nomination in the other topmost category – African Player of the Year – Based in Africa 2017.
The winner will be decided by votes from the Head Coaches/Technical Directors of the National Associations affiliated to Caf, members of the Caf Technical and Development Committee and a panel of Media Experts.
Ghana capital Accra will host the 26th edition of the annual Caf Awards. It is however the first under new sponsors AITEO and has been scheduled for Thursday, January 4, 2018.
The Caf Awards will see players, officials and administrators who distinguished themselves exemplary during the year under review being honoured for their efforts towards the development of the game on the continent.
