Coach Milutin ‘Micho’ Sredojevic has fired warning shots at his former employees, Uganda, to pay his $54, 000 debt or risk Fifa sanctions.
The Serbian feels betrayed over failed promises on salaries and bonuses since joining the East African country in 2013. He has however terminated his contract after guiding them to appear at their first Cup of Nations since 1978.
“Through my agent Ivica Stankovic we have written to the Uganda FA to effect this payment as quickly as possible,” Sredojevic told KweséESPN.
“They need to pay before the next 2018 World Cup qualifying tie or could risk expulsion from the qualifiers.”
The 47-year-old has rejoined South African giant Orlando Pirates on a three-year deal – a club he coached in 2006, after terminating his contract.
However, FUFA boss has responded to claims made by Micho and seemed unperturbed about threats.
“We do not know anything about the ultimatum Sredojevic is giving because I have not seen any letter like that – but we shall pay his debt when we get the money,” Watson told KweséESPN.
Uganda has appointed Moses Basena and Fred Kajoba to oversee their double header against Egypt in the World Cup Qualifiers. They will host the Pharaohs on the 31st of August before travelling for the return leg on the September 5 in Alexandria.
