Road to Russia 2018: Ghana to face Congo, Egypt, Uganda in African qualifiers
Ghana has been handed a tricky test in the quest for their 4th World Cup appearance following a draw for the group phase of the African qualifiers to the 2018 tournament on Friday.
The Black Stars who went into the draw seeded in Pot 1 have been pitted in Group E.
Coach Avram Grant’s men will battle for the top spot in the group against Congo, Egypt and Uganda.
The full draw:
Group A: Libya, Guinea, DR Congo, Tunisia
Group B: Zambia, Cameroon, Nigeria, Algeria
Group C: Gabon, Morocco, Mali, Cote d’Ivoire
Group D: Burkina Faso, South Africa, Cape Verde, Senegal
Group E: Uganda, Congo, Egypt, Ghana
The group winners automatically fill Africa’s five slots for the 2018 Fifa World Cup tournament which is set for June 14 to July 15 that year.
The qualifying matches start in October and will be played through until November 2017.
