Afcon 2017Q: Ghana quartet to referee Kenya-Congo clash

Four Ghanaian match officials have received appointment to handle the Afcon 2017 penultimate Group E qualifying match between Kenya and Congo.

The Confederation of African Football (Caf) has selected Rio 2016 Olympics bound referee Joseph Lamptey to man affairs from the centre of the crucial encounter set for the Kasarani Stadium in Nairobi on June 5.

Providing support to referee Lamptey on the lines are usual suspects David Laryea as Assistant 1 and Alidu Salifu Malik who will take up the Assistant 2 role.

Experienced referee Seidu Bomison will serve as the Reserve Referee.

Rwanda Aaron Rurangirwa has been appointed Match Commissioner.

With just a point from four games, Kenya are out of contention for qualification while Congo who are only separated from Zambia by a superior goal difference must beat their hosts to brighten their chances of securing a ticket to the 2017 Afcon at home on the final day of the qualifiers later in September.
