EXCLUSIVE: Abedi Pelé appointed coach of French side Chamois Niort
Ghana legend Abedi Ayew Pelé has been appointed as new coach of French side Chamois Niort FC.
The three-time African Footballer of the Year is returning to the Ligue 2 side which he previously played for in the late 1980s.
Ayew Pelé has been coaching a second-tier side, Nania FC in Ghana, a club he owns and guided them to a historic final in the FA Cup in 2011 but eventually lost out on the title.
The ex-Ghana captain later picked up a CAF License A badge in December 2013 but declared not keen on taking to full-time coaching.
Abedi has signed an agreement that will keep him at Chamois Niort FC until the end of the 2015/16 (current) French season.
The Marseille legend is scheduled to assume his new role and lead the side in a first training session from Monday April 4.
