Caf CC: Aduana target first win as AS Vita visit

Aduana Stars will face off with AS Vita Club in the 2018 Caf Confederation Cup Group A match at the Agyeman Badu I Park on Wednesday.

Kick-off is at 1300 GMT.

The Aduana Ogya have been inactive since the 6th of June 2018 due to the ongoing suspension of the Ghana Premier League.

Stars are winless in Group A having drawn 3-3 with Moroccan giants Raja Casablanca in an encounter which was played in Dormaa Ahenkro two months ago.

The draw left Ghana side, who have a new coach in Kenichi Yatsuhashi, placed fourth on the Group A standings with one point from two games. They are three points behind group leaders Vita.

Striker Bright Adjei has insisted that the lack of competitive local action will not stop them from recording their first win in the group stage.

“We have prepared long ago and are ready for any match despite the fact that we are not playing the league,” he told Solid FM.

“We are confident of getting our first win on Wednesday. Football is my work and I don’t regret playing football despite the current happenings in Ghana football.”

Oba Ikama, who scored during the draw against Casablanca, will be looking to score again and help his side stun Vita.

Meanwhile, Vita are heading into this match brimming with confidence having clinched the 2017/18 Congolese Linafoot title following a 1-0 victory over AS Dragons Bilima last week Thursday.

The Dolphins, who won the 1973 Champions League title, remain undefeated in Group A having thrashed Ivorian giants ASEC Mimosas 3-1 in a game which was played in Kinshasa two months ago.

The victory took the DR Congo giants to the top of Group A standings with four points from two games. They are a point above second-placed Mimosas.

Vita head coach Florent Ibenge is expecting a difficult match against Stars as he has watched the Ghanaian side playing.

“It will not be an easy game because I have seen how they played in Cote D’Ivoire,” Ibenge said.

“They create a lot of chances and are very dangerous going forward. They also managed a draw against Raja who are one of the tournament favourites so we know what they can do.”

Emmanuel Ngudikama, who grabbed a brace against Mimosas, is a key player for the Dolphins and he will be keen to inspire his side to victory.
