Afcon 2019: First start for Acquah in Ghana XI vs Tunisia
Ahead of Monday night’s final last-16 match of the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations between Ghana and Tunisia, coach Kwasi Appiah has made two changes to his starting lineup that beat Guinea-Bissau in their previous game.
The Black Stars trainer has opted to fully utilize the opportunity to use his first-choice centre-back pair of John Boye and Kassim Adams following the return of the latter from suspension. Joseph Aidoo drops to the bench.
Sticking to his 4-2-3-1 system, Appiah has introduced Italy-based midfielder Afriyie Acquah to the start list, replacing youngster Kwabena Owusu.
Acquah’s presence calls for a couple of positional changes as he moves in to partner Mubarak Wakaso in central midfield.
This allows Atletico Madrid star Thomas Partey to move further up to play in a more attacking role behind lead striker Jordan Ayew.
Skipper Andre Ayew thus takes to the flanks with Samuel Owusu.
The winner of the Ghana-Tunisia game will face Madagascar in the quarterfinals.
Kickoff is at 19:00 GMT.
