Afcon 2019: Ghana won’t underrate opponents – Appiah

Ghana coach Kwasi Appiah says his team will in no way underrate any opponent as they kick off their campaign at the 2019 Africa Cup of Nations Tuesday night.

The Black Stars come face to face with their West African neighbours Benin in a Group F encounter at the Ismailia Stadium at 20:00 GMT.

“Modern football has changed and there is no way you can underrate any team and every team is pushing,” Appiah who is at his second Afcon said in a pre-match presser Monday afternoon.

“But I believe in my players, I have full confidence in them and I know they will deliver.

“All the teams in our group are strong but the most important thing is preparing well to face them and that’s what we have done,” he added.

Good preps

Appiah reiterates his satisfaction about the team’s pre-tournament groundworks.

“Preparations has been very good so far.

“Each of the players I select is capable of playing for the team to give us the results. Whoever I select to start the game will be ready,” the ex-international noted.

The Black Stars have been tasked to end Ghana’s 37-year Nations Cup trophy drought at the Egypt 2019 finals.
