Ghana vs Egypt: Hegazi pulls out of Pharaohs squad
West Brom defender Ahmed Hegazi has become the latest player to withdraw from Egypt’s squad to face Ghana this weekend.
The Pharaohs, already qualified for the tournament in Russia, travel to face the Black Stars in a final World Cup qualifying game on Sunday, November 12.
But manager Hector Cuper is faced with another withdrawal of a squad member in 72 hours. For personal reasons, Hegazi will not be able to make the trip to Cape Coast.
“Ahmed Hegazi left Egypt’s training camp on Tuesday for family reasons,” read a statement on the Egyptian FA’s official website.
Talisman Mohamed Salah excused himself from the dead rubber match even before the announcement of Egypt’s squad while Saudi-based left-back Mohamed Abdel-Shafy was diagnosed with an injury which keeps him out for a week.
Hector Cuper has already stated his intentions to test some new players against the Black Stars on Sunday.
